Kolkata :Defending I League champions Mohun Bagan have further strengthened their side by signing Pronoy Halder . Pronoy has signed for the Green and Maroon on loan from FC Goa . Bagan officials were negotiating with this defensive midfielder from Dempo for the last few days . With Pronoy joining the Bagan ranks , it will lend more balance to Sanjay Sen’s team .
It will be an uphill task for I League debutants Aizwal FC , when they take on defending champions Mohun Bagan on Sunday . It is considered to be a match between David and Goliath . Aizawl FC’s hopes rest on the goals coring ability of former Mohammedan forward Alfred Jayran.
Aizawl FC , who emerged as the champions of the 2nd division I-league have also won the Mizoram Premier League. The squad full of homegrown players will be looking forward to spring up a surprise against heavyweights Mohun Bagan.
Aizawl FC practiced at the Mohun Bagan ground for almost 2 hours under the guidance of Manuel Retamero Fraile. The main problem with the footballers is that they have to play their first match on the astroturf at the Barasat Stadium. Aizawl FC coach did admit about this problem.”Look in professional football there are no room for complain. you have to adjust in every situation”. He was also unhappy with the Mohun Bagan ground condition
Having played at the high altitude Aizawl FC players have to acclimatise themselves in this condition. Aizaw FC have some quality foreigners with the likes of Yuta Kinowaki and Alfred Jayran. Jayran who has scored a brace in the MPL final would be hoping to replicate his form.
Captain David Lalrinmuana will be marshaling the midfield alongside Japanese Kinowaki. Manuel Retamero Fraile , who earlier coached Bahrain also had stints with Iscar, Real Valladolid B and CD La Granja was confident of his young team doing well .
