Mithali Raj, Ashwin recommended for Khel Ratna Award by BCCI; Dhawan, Bumrah & Rahul proposed for Arjuna
Xtra Time Web Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday recommended the names of Indian women’s team test and ODI captain Mithali Raj and off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s name for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. The names of Jasprit Bumrah, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul have been proposed for the Ajuna awards.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports had earlier decided to extend the last date of submission of application for the upcoming National Sports Awards 2021. Earlier, the last date for submitting applications was June 21.
The Wrestling Federation of India has nominated Olympic-bound and World Championship medal-winning wrestlers Ravi Dahiya and Deepak Punia for the Arjuna award along with fast-rising Anshu Malik.
The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has proposed the name of World Champion in Double Trap Ankur Mittal and World Championship silver medallist Anjum Moudgil for the prestigious Khel Ratna Award, the highest sporting honour of the country.
Present world number one in 10M Air Rifle Women Elavenil Valarivan, world number one in 10M Air Pistol Men Abhishek Verma and 50M Pistol World Champion Om Prakash Mitherval have been recommended for the prestigious Arjuna Awards respectively.
