Chennai : Mick Schumacher had a podium finish in his first race outside Europe . Son of F1 legend Michael Schumacher , Mick finished third at the MRF Championship at Irungattukottai, on the outskirts of Chennai, on Saturday.
Though Mick started on the fourth grid, he slipped to sixth position at one point but gained ground amazingly for a podium finish.
“I’m so happy. India treated me well. I like this circuit,” Mick said after the third place finish.
Brazilian Pietro Fittipaldi is currently in the top spot in the overall tally. Followed by Tattiana Calderon from Columbia and Nikita Troitcki from Russia. India’s Tarun Reddy stands sixth.
Mick’s legendary dad, Michael, a seven-time world champion, is still in a Medical induced coma after he suffered major injuries in a skiing accident.
