Kolkata: Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami is confident that his teammates will bounce back in the series against Australia. Shami, who didn’t feature in the test match at Pune due to injury, sees nothing to be concerned about after Virat Kohli and his team. The Indians were outplayed in all departments by Australia to suffer an embarrassing defeat by a margin of 333 runs.

“We lost in our own backyard, which is part of the game.  We have been winning test matches consistently in recent times. It’s just an odd game. It will not be fair to blame anyone for the loss. We must leave behind the failure and look forward to the remaining three test matches of the series.”.

Shami, who hasn’t played any cricket after injuring his knee during third Test against England in November, is eyeing a comeback in the Vijay Hazare Trophy matches. The fast bowler was not part of the East Zone squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and he hasn’t been included among the Bengal probables for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy.

According to Shami, “I am feeling a lot better now. I will try to play a few matches in Vijay Hazare Trophy.”

The fast bowler was accompanied by his wife and daughter to watch Dhoni play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Chhattisgarh at Eden Gardens. The former Indian captain did not disappoint though as he blazed through to his 17th List A century.

“I came to watch him (Dhoni) play. It’s always an added incentive when you watch him bat the way he did today,” said Shami as he drove away with his family.
