Premier League 2021-22: Manchester United’s clash against Brentford gets postponed due to record number of COVID cases

Xtra Time Web Desk : The Premier League on Monday registered 42 new COVID 19 cases on Monday as the deadly virus’ spread this week went on to be a record in English football. And the record number of cases has now led to the Manchester United vs Brentford game getting postponed.

The Premier League in a statement stated, “Between Monday 6 December and Sunday 12 December 3,805 players and club staff were tested for Covid-19. Of these, there were 42 new positive cases,”

The statement also added, “The safety of everybody is a priority and the Premier League is taking all precautionary steps in light of the recent rise in Covid-19 cases across the country. We will continue to work closely with the government, local authorities and supporter groups, while being responsive to any future changes to national or local guidance.”

Now with the COVID cases surging through and the clubs getting back to the previous strict measures, it would be interesting to see how the deadly virus’ affects English football.
