XtraTime Web Desk: As expected in the last 24 hours, Manchester United have appeared to confirm Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will become their caretaker manager in a website leak.
Solskjaer emerged as the most likely candidate to succeed Jose Mourinho on Tuesday, with the Portuguese sacked from his position after two-and-a-half years in charge.
Mourinho departs Old Trafford with the club 19 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, and facing a fight to even reach the top four and qualify for next season’s Champions League.
A video has been added to United’s website of Solskjaer scoring in the famous 1999 Champions League final, with a caption reading: “Solskjaer becomes our interim manager, 20 seasons after clinching the Treble with THAT goal at Camp Nou…”
