Internet Desk: Lodha Committee asked BCCI to implement the recommendation for structural reform by 15th October. After meeting the BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke the panel specified the final date. The Board is also expected to submit a compliance report on the implementation of reforms by August 25.

“The BCCI has been given a specific timeline by the Lodha Panel to implement 15 specific steps related to constititional amendments by October 15. The honorary secretary, Ajay Shirke, has informed the panel that a first compliance report of the steps that are being taken will be submitted to the panel by August 25,” a source close to the Lodha panel told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Following the instruction of the panel BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke met the panel today in the place of President Anurag Thakur who cited his ‘Leave of Absence’ as the Parliament is in session.

According to sources close to the panel, secretary Shirke again spoke about practical difficulties in implementation of a few of the recommendations upheld by the Supreme Court in its verdict.

An apex court Bench headed by Chief Justice of India T.S. Thakur had upheld Lodha Committee recommendations such as an age cap of 70 for BCCI office-bearers, cooling-off period, one State-one vote and ban on Ministers and bureaucrats. All these recommendations were strongly objected to by the cricket body and member State associations in the apex court.
