Xtra Time Web Desk: Bangladesh test captain Litton Das was heavily trolled for his lacklustre showing in his debut IPL game against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley stadium on Thursday night. He was heavily criticized by the netizens, some even felt that it was due to Litton’s missed stumpings that the Knight Riders failed to go past the finish line. He also fared miserably with the bat as well scoring only 4 runs.
As expected, Afghanistan wicket-keeper batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz made way for Litton in the playing XI. Litton was asked to open the batting with Jason Roy. The Bangladesh star started his knock with a stupendous four through the off side off Ishant Sharma, who won the Player of the Match award. But in the very next over, Litton went for a pull shot off Mukesh Kumar and holed out to Lalit Yadav inside the circle.
While fielding, Litton felt the heat as well. In the second ball of the 18th over in DC’s run-chase, Litton missed an easy stumping to give Lalit Yadav a lifeline. In the very next over, Litton fumbled again. This time Axar Patel got a reprieve. Litton failed to collect the ball properly in his first attempt and although he took off the bails in his second, Axar had made his ground by then.
Both Axar and Lalit remained unbeaten to successfully chase 128 runs with four balls to spare. The duo added 17 runs for the seventh wicket. Axar scored 19 runs off 22 balls while Lalit scored four off seven.
It will be interesting to see if KKR management gives him another opportunity in the ongoing IPL 2023 season.
