Legendary former footballer Surajit Sengupta passes away at 70

Xtra Time Web Desk : Legendary former footballer Surajit Sengupta passed away on Thursday at the age of 70, after battling with COVID-19 for a span of 24 days.

The former right winger was admitted to Peerless Hospitex hospital where he was being treated by a special team of doctors and consultants and was constantly kept under supervision for the last 3 weeks.

Sengupta, a skillful footballer played for East Bengal in the 70’s and was a legendary figure inside the club. He also played for Mohun Bagan and represented India at the Asian Games 1978.

Later on, Sengupta also held an editorial position at Aajkal Newspaper and was a known columnist among football fans in Kolkata.
