Xtra Time Web Desk: In a thrilling encounter against the Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 10th, Gujarat Titans' openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan etched their names in IPL history books with a monumental opening stand of 210 runs.

Sudharsan, stepping in alongside Gill instead of Wriddhiman Saha, contributed significantly to the partnership, as the duo amassed a staggering 210 runs, marking the highest opening stand of IPL 2024 and equalling the joint highest in IPL history. Gill hit his 3rd IPL 100 whereas Sai hit his maiden IPL 100.

Let's also not overlook that Shubman has not secured a spot in the T20 World Cup squad, set to kick off on June 1st, 2024. So, then who was his century aimed at—Captain Rohit Sharma or Selector Ajit Agarkar? Is this a missed chance for India, or does the squad possess sufficient firepower? Only time will tell.

Singh delivered a full toss, and Gill wasted no time capitalizing on it. The ball, angled in from outside off, prompted Gill to shuffle across and whip it straight towards deep backward square leg, securing a stunning boundary. In a passionate moment of celebration, Gill leaped in the air and passionately mouthed '**** OFF', reigniting vintage Virat Kohli's jubilations.

This century marked a significant milestone in IPL history, being the 100th century in the tournament's history. Brendon McCullum was the inaugural centurion, and now, the Prince joins the elite club as the 100th player to achieve this feat. Shortly after Gill's century, Sai Sudarshan also reached the milestone, doing so in just 50 balls.

The Titans, after being put in to bat by Chennai Super Kings, benefitted immensely from the solid foundation laid by Gill and Sudharsan in the initial 10 overs. Sudharsan showcased his prowess by reaching his half-century in just 32 deliveries during the ninth over, propelling the team past the 100-run mark by the 10th over. As the innings progressed, Gill and Sudharsan continued to accelerate, breaking Gujarat Titans' record for the highest partnership for any wicket by surging past 148 runs. Both batsmen found themselves in the 90s, indicating the potential for individual milestones as well as a formidable team total. Both batters shared the same runs 103 before they got put.
