Xtra Time Web Desk: India captain Rohit Sharma confirmed on Saturday that Virat Kohli was rested for their only T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up match against Bangladesh in New York. But no matter Kohli got a roaring reception from New York’s Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. Kohli, who reached the United States of America on 30 May, Friday was rested from the warm-up match.

Kohli, however, did light training with the Indian team ahead of the game. Kohli had taken a long flight to USA and it was unlikely that he would feature in the warm-up match. However, his presence at the venue was enough for the fans to go gaga over his aura in the field.

Kohli was the last player to join the Indian side in the T20 World Cup 2024. Kohli was forced to stay back due to documentation issues. The majority of the Indian team has been in New York since 26 May. India players have done a couple of intense sessions of training before coming into the warm-up game.

Virat Kohli had a terrific Indian Premier League 2024 season. In the second half of the tournament, Kohli showed exceptional ability against spin outside the powerplay and was one of the main reasons behind RCB's dream run in the tournament. Kohli comes into the T20 World Cup as the Orange Cap winner of the IPL 2024 and expectations will be high of him in the ICC tournament.
