Xtra Time Web Desk: India's head coach Rahul Dravid was in high spirits as he attended a baseball match in New York, cheering for the iconic New York Yankees. Following India's commanding eight-wicket victory over Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, Dravid, along with fielding coach T Dilip and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, took some time off to watch the Yankees play against the Minnesota Twins at Yankee Stadium on June 5.

The Yankees emerged victorious, defeating the Twins 9-5, adding to the celebratory mood for Dravid and his colleagues. This outing came right after India’s successful start to their ICC T20 World Cup campaign, where they demonstrated their dominance with both bat and ball.

Dravid, who took on the role in November 2021 after a successful tenure as the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and coach of the U-19 team, led India to multiple high-profile finals, including two World Test Championship finals and the ODI World Cup 2023 final. Ahead of the match against Ireland, Dravid confirmed that he would be stepping down from his position and would not seek reappointment.  "I love doing the job. I've really enjoyed coaching India and I think it's a truly special job to do. I enjoyed working with this team and it's a great bunch of boys to work with but yeah but just considering you know unfortunately just the kind of schedules and where I find myself in the stage in my life I don't think I'll be able to reapply," he said.

"So yeah, obviously it'll be my last one but having said that it's no different for me to be very honest. From the first day I took the job, I always felt that every game was important and every game mattered and that will not change," said Dravid.

India will next face Pakistan on June 9 in the T20 World Cup 2024.
