The ongoing debate between the PCB and ICC remains unresolved, raising questions about what the PCB truly aims to achieve and how this prolonged standoff might conclude.

The ICC has scheduled a virtual meeting at 2:30 PM in an attempt to resolve the matter, but concerns linger over its effectiveness. According to sources, the PCB continues to oppose the hybrid model, which suggests holding five India-related matches at a neutral venue.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi reaffirmed this position, stating, "Pakistan will not keep participating in events in India while Indian authorities keep refusing to send their teams to Pakistan. Such an imbalance is not acceptable." Speaking at an impromptu press conference in Lahore on Wednesday night, Naqvi emphasized, "Our stance is well known. We will safeguard Pakistan's interests."

Should ICC members vote in favor of the hybrid model, Naqvi indicated he would need time to consult with his government before responding. This stance suggests that a resolution might not emerge immediately, with further deliberations likely extending the debate. A clearer picture is expected to surface within the next two days, possibly including the announcement of fixtures.

Time is of the essence for the ICC, as delays in finalizing the schedule could have significant commercial repercussions. Tournament fixtures must be shared with business partners at least 90 days before the event to ensure adequate time for capitalizing on sponsorship and advertising opportunities. The ICC Board is expected to propose alternatives, but the uncertainty surrounding Pakistan's participation continues to overshadow the proceedings.
