BGT 2025-25: Nitish Kumar Reddy makes history with maiden test century at MCG!
Xtra Time Web Desk: India's youngster Nitish Reddy smashed an wonderful century at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on Day 3 becoming the first No.8 batter to score a test hundred at the ground. The youngster reached the landmark on Day 3 of the Boxing Day Test.
He broke the record of Mitchell Johnson, who scored an unbeaten 92 against Sri Lanka back in December 2012. Donald Tallon also made 92 runs against England back in January 1947. Reddy also recorded the highest score by an Indian No.8 or below batter in Test cricket on Australian soil. The legendary Anil Kumble earlier held the record with his 87-run knock back in January 2008 at the Adelaide Oval.

Reddy was not out on 85 at Tea and built a century stand with Washington Sundar for the eighth wicket at a crucial moment. With him on 99, India lost their ninth wicket in the form of Jasprit Bumrah. But after Mohammed Siraj staved off Pat Cummins, Reddy got there with a lofted shot down the ground off Scott Boland. His century showcasing his fighting spirit and determination.
Earlier in the day, Reddy reached his half-century in just 81 balls and celebrated with the signature move of ‘Pushpa,’ a nod to Allu Arjun’s blockbuster Telugu movie. Fans in the stands and across the cricketing world loved it!
