Jaiswal has now scored the most runs by an Indian left-handed batter in a calendar year as he surpassed Gambhir's total runs in 2008. The current India coach had scored 1134 runs in 2008 with an average of 70.67 in 8 matches and had scored 6 fifties and 3 hundreds. Jaiswal currently has more than 1161 runs at an average of 55.28. The Indian opener is also the 2nd highest run-getter in Tests this year and just behind Joe Root. The England batter has 1338 runs to his name and Jaiswal will be looking to go past it in Australia.

Jaiswal failed to score in the first innings against Australia in Perth but in second innings he came back with a positive approach as he scored his first 50 on Australian soil. His resistance and capability to stay in the crease with smashing some good shots timely are evident in this knock.
