BGT 2024-25: Jasprit Bumrah becomes fastest Indian pacer to 200 test wickets
Xtra Time Web Desk: Jasprit Bumrah has etched his name in history by becoming the fastest Indian pacer to claim 200 wickets in Test cricket. The milestone was achieved during the Boxing Day Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Bumrah surpassed the legendary Kapil Dev, who had previously held the record after reaching the mark in 50 matches against the West Indies in March 1983 at Port of Spain.
Bumrah reached the landmark in just 44 Tests, equalling Ravindra Jadeja’s record as the joint second-fastest Indian to 200 Test wickets. Only Ravi Ashwin remains ahead of them, having accomplished the feat in 37 matches against New Zealand in Kanpur in September 2016.
