BGT 2024-25: Gautam Gambhir points out importance of domestic cricket, will it make difference!
Xtra Time Web Desk: India head coach Gautam Gambhir has once again highlighted the importance of playing domestic cricket after India’s face a heavy series loss against Australia.
As India lost the final test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, India met another unwanted record. It was their first series loss against Australia since 2015 and their second consecutive Test series loss following a recent 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand at home.

While addressing the press after Sydney Test loss, Gambhir stated pointing out the importance of participating in domestic, “I would always like everyone to play domestic cricket. Not only one game, if they’re available and they have the commitment to play red-ball cricket, everyone should play domestic cricket. As simple as it can get, if you don’t give importance to domestic cricket, you will never get desired results that you want in Test cricket.”

This discussion have been going since long as players like Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer have been reprimanded in the past for missing domestic games. Ahead of the ongoing Test season, players like Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan and Kuldeep Yadav amongst others, participated in Duleep Trophy but senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma continued to be missing. It will be interesting to see if head coach's advise make these two seniors back in domestic cricket or not!
