Lajong signs Brazilian duo Fabio and Uilliams

Kolkata : Lajong FC didn’t have a  great I League last season as they finished 9th in the points table. With 6 wins 5 draws and 9 loses they finished third from the bottom of the table.

They had an awful run at home winning only 4 matches out of 10. Their biggest home win came against East Bengal as they demolished the Red and Golds 5-1.

Lajong have acquired the services of Brazilian forward Fabio Pena Henrique and Japanese defender Yusuke Yamagata. Yusuke is a versatile defender who plied his trades in Japan, Cambodia and Laos. He can also play in the midfield and can operate in both feet. Forward Fabio is a hardworking forward who has played for 5 years in Japan. Fabio will join his compatriot  Uilliam Bomfims Souza who played an influential role in the 2013-14 season .Uilliams is well known for his fast pace, attacking ability,and long rangers. Coach Thangboi Sangto would have to rely a lot on his Brazilian striker duo .

David Ngaihte and Boithang Haokip can  keep the flanks active . Khongjee who rejoined Lajong in 2014 will be marshalling the defence alongside Yamagata.

Coach Thangboi Singto has been managing the club since 2009. Although he was an assistant coach then he has fair amount of knowledge about the squad. Singto was handed the responsibility in 2014 of managing the senior side.He led the side to a sixth place finish in the 2013-14 season. He also roped in by the North East as an assistant coach.

Singbo sounds confident about the upcoming I-league,” Our preparation started soon after being crowned Shillong Premier League Champion.

According to Singto “ Lajong’s X Factor this season  will be a young and energetic team. We have some very talented young players who could surprise many along  with experienced players like Aibor, Boithang, Robin and Brazilian Striker Uilliams.
Shillong Lajong Football Club have recently signed defenders Aibanbha Kupar Dohling & Konsham Chinglensana Singh along with local lad Aiban . The boy from Cherapunji plays in the right back position and is known to be quick and strong. He started his football career as a teenager with Shillong Lajong FC in the Academy before  moving  to Tata Football Academy (Jamshedpur) in 2011 .

Head Coach Thangboi Singto was pleased to secure Aiban’s signing and mentioned,“Aiban is a former Lajong Academy player who has grown to be a good player in the full back position. The youngsters forte is his determination, tenacity and commitment .”

Chinlensana is a Manipuri lad who stands at 6’1 feet tall, played in the Under 15 Team of Mahindra United in the MUPC cup in 2010. He is a Centre Back who has also played for Air India for a few years before joining Tata Football Academy in 2012. In his first year stint at TFA he played the U-19 I-League which saw his team finish as the Runners Up and in the very next year, he was again part of the U-19 Squad and played the I-League where his team were crowned champions. In 2014, he went for an exposure trip to England where he trained with Sheffield United’s Under 19 Team. The Skilful defender was also part of the India U-19 Squad that travelled to China for an exposure trip and played against Clubs like Shanghai 2000 and the China U-17 and U-19 Teams.

Milan Basumatary hails from Assam and started his football in Kokrajhar FootballAcademy. He can play as a striker or an attacking midfielder. He then moved to SAI Academy in Kokrajhar and was picked up by the AIFF at the age of 15 to be trained in their Elite Academy located in Goa. He went on to play for the academy up to the age of 19 where he has won Under 19 I-League and gained many experiences playing in international tournaments and exhibition matches.

On bringing Konsham Chinglensana to the Club, Head Coach commented, “A Young and talented defender who passed out from TFA as the best cadet was a target as we found him to be the Best Upcoming Talented Defender from North East. A Players who Leads both on and off  the Field. Future Lajong captain material has shown what he can do during SPL where he was a Mainstay in our defence.”
