La Liga: Ronald Koeman makes a winning start as Barcelona rout Villareal 4-0, Messi scores

XtraTime Web Desk: Ronald Koeman made a winning start in La Liga as Barcelona manager with his side thrashing Villarreal 4-0 on Sunday. Talisman Lionel Messi was back scoring for the Catalans as it was a near perfect win for the hosts at Camp Nou.

Teenage striker Ansu Fati was the star for Barca scoring twice and also winning a penalty. He combined well with Jordi Alba to open the scoring in the 15th minute and then striking again four minutes later with another ice-cool finish.

The 17-year-old in his second season in Barca’s first team after a stunning rise last year from the club’s youth set-up, then won the penalty which captain Messi dispatched to score the third in the 35th minute.

Villarreal defender Pau Torres scored an own goal right at the end of the first half to heap more pain on Unai Emery’s side.

Meanwhile Luis Suarez made a memorable debut for Atletico Madrid, scoring twice in a 6-1 rout of Granada. The Uruguyan joined Atletico from Barcelona just three days before.
