Kyle Jamieson breaks silence about the duke ball episode with Virat Kohli in IPL 2021

Xtra Time Web Desk: New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson has been the most talked about bowler in recent times. The tall BlackCaps fast bowler played a crucial role in helping his team beat India by 8 wickets in the inaugural ICC World Test Championship at Southampton. Jamieson took seven wickets in the match, including a five wicket haul in the first innings. But the fans will remember him getting Indian captain Virat Kohli out in both innings. Jamieson has now dismissed thrice in test matches in his short international test career so far.

In the build up to the ICC World Test Championship final, a lot was talked about the Kiwi bowler refusing to bowl at Virat Kohli with the Dukes Balls during his stint in the IPL 2021 with Royal Challengers Bangalore. Jamieson finally broke his silence on the entire episode. It was his RCB teammate Dan Christian who floated this news. However, the Kiwi bowler revealed the actual truth behind the story. In a virtual interaction, Jamieson revealed it was not Kohli who asked him to bowl with the Dukes balls at the RCB nets.

“No, it wasn’t so much him asking. I think it was Dan just sort of adding some stuff for a good story. We were just talking about it at the start of the IPL with the cricket coming up with our UK tour and theirs as well and I mentioned that I had some Dukes balls, he had some Dukes balls as well,” said Jamieson.

“He just said look at the back end if we want to do some training, we’ll do that but there was no specificity around me bowing to him or, or giving him a look, but whether he was insinuating something that’s something he could tell you but obviously quite a funny story that’s unfolded.”

Jamieson will be seen back in action for the Royal Challengers when the IPL 2021 Phase 2 begins in UAE from September 19.
