Kuldeep the ‘riddle’, as India registered the biggest innings win in Test cricket against Windies

Kuldeep Yadav spun West Indies in a riddle as India beat the Caribbeans in the first Test match in Rajkot to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

It was a dominating performance by Virat Kohli’s team as they totally destroyed the West Indies batting twice inside two days.

After scoring 649/9, the hosts got West Indies all out for 181 and 196 as they won the match by an innings and 272 runs.




R Ashwin was superb for India in the first innings and picked 4/37 to apply the pressure on WI.

He overtook Harbhajan Singh for the most 4-for in Tests for India.

Ashwin now has 42 four-wicket hauls in Tests and is only behind Anil Kumble (66).

Kuldeep Yadav was superb in the second innings as he picked a five-for. The wrist-spinner became only the second chinaman bowler after Paul Adams to take 5 wickets in a Test innings in India.




This was also his best figures in a Test innings. Kuldeep joined Ajantha Mendis and Imran Tahir to get to five-wicket hauls in all three formats of the game.

Powell was the lone hero for West Indies in their second innings.

He smashed a defiant 83, as the innings was laced with eight fours and four sixes. This was Powell’s 6th Test fifty. In the first innings, Roston Chase showed some character with 53 runs under his name.
