XtraTime Web Desk – IPL is around the corner and BCCI is yet to finalise a place that will host IPL 2021. Mumbai was ready with three of their stadiums – Wankhede stadium, Brabourne and DY Patil stadium. However, their government still didn’t the green light.

Due to that, BCCI has shortlisted five more cities that could potentially host the upcoming IPL. Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore are kept as an option in case the government of Maharashtra doesn’t give the permission. The Covid-19 situation is also a talking point since the cases are once again rising in that part of the country.

Kolkata has been shortlisted as one of the potential cities to host IPL. However, the election commission of India has announced eight phases of polling for the the assembly election that will start from March 27 and will end on May 2nd. However, a BCCI source told Cricbuzz that it won’t be a problem since IPL was hosted without any problem in the 2019 general elections.

With just more than month to go for IPL, BCCI is still not sure about the venue but it’s safe to say that BCCI will allow fans into the stadium just like they are allowing in the England vs India series.
