The awards ceremony will be held in Berlin on February 17, 2020. Kohli has been named as a nominee for Sportspersons of the Year award along with a glittering list of sportspersons which includes Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lewis Hamilton, Rafael Nadal, Tiger Woods and many others.
Ace badminton player and current World Champion PV Sindhu has been nominated in the category Breakthrough of the Year award. Sindhu is nominated along with Canadian tennis player Bianca Andreescu and Irish golfer Shane Lowry. 19 year old Bianca surprised the tennis world by winning the 2019 US Open. She is currently ranked No 4 in the world. 24 year old PV Sindhu defeated Lozomi Okuhara of Japan to become the World Champion at Basel in August 2019. The Hyderabadi shuttler is currently ranked No 6 in the world.
English Premier League club Liverpool feature in the nomination for Comeback of the Year along with Andy Murray. Liverpool surprised top clubs in Europe to lift the UEFA Champions League in 2019.
