Kohli has got every right to opine in coach selection: Ganguly

Xtra Time Web Desk: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday said Virat Kohli has every right to voice his opinion in the coach selection process. The Indian captain in his first interaction with the media recently in Mumbai made his choice very clear. According to Kohli the team will be happy to have Ravi Shastri continue as coach.

“He is the captain. He has got every right to say,” said Ganguly talking to the media in Kolkata.

It was the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) headed by Ganguly himself that selected Shastri as the Head Coach. This time though the new Head Coach of the Indian team will be selected by the three member ad-hoc committee headed by Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy once the West Indies tour gets over. The Kapil Dev-led committee also picked the women’s team head coach WV Raman last year.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President however refrained from making any comment on the recent doping controversy surrounding Prithvi Shaw.

“A cough syrup can have different compositions. I don’t know what exactly happened with Prithvi Shaw,” signed off Ganguly.
