Kolkata gears up for its entry into the racing map of India

Official launch of Joba Racing.

XtraTime Web Desk – Car racing is a passionate sport. In addition to football and cricket, there are tons of followers of this game all over the world. Many people spend much time glued to their TV watching Formula One races. Set your accelerator and brakes and boom. Keep collecting points one by one while driving.

We saw a revolution in the heart of India in 2011 when we witnessed countless four-wheelers tearing our chests and blowing dust in Delhi’s Buddha Circuit after its inauguration. It ignited the flame to the fire of racing in India.

However, ‘City of Joy’ has not seen that speed and dust blowing fight so far. Because of being a football-cricket dominant city, no one has really shown interest in the game. However, John Mukherjee, chairman of Kolkata Joba Car Racing, took the initiative to ignite that interest. He not only sent a team from Kolkata but also shouted at the whole country citing that ‘Kolkata’s Time Has Come’.

West Bengal Urban Development Minister and Kolkata Mayor, Firhad Bobby Hakim unveiled the team’s logo at a five-star hotel in the city on Tuesday afternoon. Bobby Hakim also started the program by lighting the lamp. Former Bengal cricketer Arup Bhattacharya was also present. Mukherjee also appealed to the state government to build a circuit in the heart of Kolkata in the future.

Like John Mukherjee, his son Tunna Mukherjee has a similar passion for car racing. Like father like son. Moreover, Tunna Mukherjee’s record as the youngest racer in Indian chest racing is still intact. It was also his dream to set up this team.
