Jasprit Bumrah reaches his career best in ICC Test rankings

XtraTime Web Desk: Jasprit Bumrah continued his impressive rise up the MRF Tyres ICC Test Rankings for Bowlers, reaching No.3, while Jason Holder joined him just behind at No.4 after the West Indies v India Test series.

Bumrah, who earlier in the series became the fastest Indian to 50 Test wickets, has had an exceptional time in red-ball cricket since his debut in early 2018, racing to 62 wickets in just 12 matches.

In a Player-of-the-Series performance in the two Tests in Antigua and Jamaica, he finished with 13 wickets at 9.23. That included figures of 5/7 in the first Test and a hat-trick in the first innings at Sabina Park as India won 2-0. Already a versatile bowler, his ability to tease batsmen with both in-swing and out-swing at pace proved the undoing of West Indies, leading his captain Virat Kohli to laud him as “the most complete bowler in world cricket”.

Bumrah, who is No.1 on the ODI bowling charts, reached for the top echelons in the Test bowling rankings as well, rising four places to No.3, with a career-best 835 rating points. He is now only behind Australia’s Pat Cummins and South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada.
