It’s time for the Biopic on Bhaichung Bhutia. This is what the legend saying

Sabyasachi Bagchi: Now it’s time for the football fanatics to get ready to watch football fanaticism on silver screen as the shooting of the biopic of legendary Indian footballer Bhaichung Bhutia is set to begin in a few months time. After MS Dhoni, Mary Kom and Milkha Singh it’s time for the biopic of the former captain of Indian Football team. Renowned director Anand Kumar who gave us the movies like Delhi Heights, Zila Gaziabad will direct this movie.

After watching the movie ‘Pele’ Anand made up his mind to make a film on Bhaichung. Beside that the craze of football in Mumbai has gone high in last few years because of ISL as well. On being asked about the matter over phone, Anand replied,” I was inspired about doing this movie after watching Pele because for us he is the Pele of Indian football. We have seen that the craze of football is going upwards in Mumbai in last ten years. Beside IPL the people are going to the stadiums to watch ISL as well and after the FIFA U17 World Cup the craze has gone up more. I was a national athlete as well in my earlier age so my love for sports is there from my childhood.”

Bhaichung too looked very much enthusiastic about his biopic, “It’s a special honour for me. I already talked twice with the director and the script writer. We mate during the 2018 FIFA World Cup to discuss about the matter.  Beside this I also want to make it clear that I am not doing this to get more attention from people. If this story inspire the young generation of India to play football that will be the most pleasing thing for me. But this movie isn’t only based on football, here the fans can see the ups and downs of my life as well,” said Bhaichung while talking to www.xtratime.in

Earlier the director Anand Kumar didn’t know Bhaichung personally. He met with the legend with the help of a few friends. They met in Mumbai during the 2018 FIFA World Cup and Bhaichung give his nod promptly after hearing the script.

The shooting of the movie will begin from July or August. Famous script writer Prasant Pandey who had written the scripts of the movies like Sarkar Raj, Attack of 26/11 and Raid is writing the script of the movie.

But the fans have seen a lot of original superimpose footages of MS Dhoni on the field during his biopic but here the chance is quite low. “It’s tough to use the superimpose footages like MS Dhoni: The Untold Story as football is faster than cricket. We are still talking about the matter and beside that we don’t have a lot of archival shots like cricket. But we are still trying to bring some footages of Bhaichung from FIFA and AIFF,” concluded Anand.
