The Tamil Nadu opener on Thursday scored his 9th test ton along with Virat Kohli to place India in a strong position to dictate the fate of the test match against Bangladesh. His knock of 108 runs included 12 fours and a huge six. Apart from sharing a 178 runs with Pujara, both of them were involved in a terrible mix-up in the 18th over. He made full use of the run out opportunity as he played some great shots to reach his second hundred on this ground. Here are the excerpts from his press conference post the first days play. On watching Kohli bat from the other end: It’s always a great sight to see Virat bat, especially the way he is playing at the moment. He has taken his game to a different level at the moment.  End of the day you can see we have scored 356 runs. The 10-20 runs extra just happened because of him. Way he was striking the ball was fantastic. Hope he can continue like this tomorrow. On the advantage of playing one format of the game: As I am playing one format of the game at the moment, I have got a decent idea about it and the hang of it. I wanted to give as many consistent starts as possible, ready for my opportunity in other two formats as well. On the technical changes: See I was playing at the balls that I should be leaving actually, that’s what I went back home and gave it a thought and came back to Bombay and play in the way  I would play rather than playing for the situation. Rather than putting too much pressure on me. These are small things, I rectified in the Bombay Test. On his stand with Cheteswar Pujara: We really enjoy each other’s company out there in the middle and he has a solid game. He makes things easy for me and we both share a good rapport and that makes it easy inside. On his mix up with Pujara in the middle: We need to work on that. I would have been out by quite some distance. Later we had different conversation with him (laughs). On how he rates Pujara as a player: I think he’s going to become a great player, he’s a great player. It’s great honour to move along with him and pick his brains. We are totally different characters in the dressing room because we don't think the same way but once we go in the middle, we enjoy the company and enjoy each other’s success. He’s been a fantastic role model for all the youngsters in India. Hopefully he can continuing doing the great work. On Rahane taking Nair’s spot in the playing XI: One good thing about the team is everybody is eager to play at the same time everyone knows what their role is. We respect each other’s company. Rahane is a very good Test player with an average of above 50. As I said Karun played an unbelievable knock in Chennai and he’s waiting in the wings. It’s a good healthy competition for a place in the team.

It’s always a great sight to watch Virat bat from the other end: Vijay
