ISL: Delhi Dynamos sign Kean Lewis, retain the services of Souvik Chakraborty

Internet Desk: ISL franchisee Delhi Dynamos have the retained the services of central midfielder Souvik Chakraborty and signed winger Kean Lewis from Mohun Bagan to strengthen their midfield.

With Mohun Bagan, Souvik won the I-League in 2015 and the Federation Cup in 2016. He has been a force to reckon with in the midfield with his brand of energy and athleticism. Souvik is widely regarded as an extremely hardworking player, and his high work rate per match is a proof of that.

He has played with Delhi Dynamos for two consecutive seasons of the ISL, and under the tutelage of greats like Alessandro Del Piero and Roberto Carlos and has evolved into a more creative player with the ability to press high up the field when needed.

Joining Souvik is his Bagan teammate, midfielder Kean Lewis, who signed today for Delhi Dynamos. Lewis has played for clubs like Fairleigh Dickinson Knights , Houston Hurricanes FC, Houston Dynamo U23 & Laredo Heat etc. In July 2015, Lewis came to India for a trial with Mohun Bagan, then reigning I-League champions. After impressing the team, Lewis signed with Bagan.

After good performances in the Calcutta Football League, Lewis made his professional debut for Mohun Bagan on 9 January 2016 against Aizawl. He started the match and played for ninety minutes as Bagan went out 3–1 winners. He was awarded Man of the Match in his second game against Bengaluru FC.

On the other hand, Aizawl FC’s fantastic run into the final of the Federation Cup seems to have caught the attention of the Dynamos scouts as they have successfully managed to rope in centre-back cum side back Lalchhawnkima.

Meanwhile, Northeast Flames are set to burn in Mumbai this time. Telem Jackichand Singh who was in his blistering form in the match against Laos is roped in by Mumbai City FC and along with him , the set piece expert Boithang Haokip and rock solid defender Aiborlang Khongjee who were in Northeast United FC for last 2 seasons will also ply their trade for Mumbai City FC this year.

Kerala Blasters FC have confirmed the signing of their new coach Steve Coppell, who is the former Manchester City coach. The 60-year-old has over 30 years of coaching experience which has included stints at Crystal Palace, Reading amongst other clubs. As a player, he played over 300 games for Manchester United and even represented England on 42 occasions.
