Xtra Time Web Desk : SC East Bengal seems to repeat history as they were handed yet another draw as they locked horns against Kerala Blasters FC in their latest fixture. Last season, the Red and Gold took seven matches to register their first win, while it has already been six matches this season and they are yet to register their first win, after suffering 1-1 draw against the Tuskers.


For the Red and Gold, it was the center-back, Tomislav Mrcela who marked his name in the scoresheet in the 37th minute. While Alvaro Vazquez took up the job to equalize the score for Kerala Blasters FC.


As the first half commenced it was the Tuskers who looked fierce to leave a mark early on, while East Bengal struggled to stop those attacks. In around 15 minutes Alvaro Vazquez had put the ball into the net for Kerala Blasters, but the goal was disallowed after the referee made a mistake.


However, the first blood was draw by East Bengal as they opened the scoring in the 37th minute. Raju Gaikwad, who is know for his long and dangers throws into the opposition box made a similar throw which was headed into the Kerala Blasters goal by Tomislav Mrcela.


The Tuskers looking to get back into the game came in with continuous attack, which was ultimately rewarded as they equalized the score just before the half time in the 44th minute. Alvaro Vazquez who was denied his first goal had put a beautiful curler shot which had landed in the East Bengal goal after taking a deflection from one of their defenders. The goal was initially labelled as an own goal, but eventually was awarded to the striker.
Returning for the second half both the sides took turns to attack, but after the hour mark it was all about Kerala Blasters who took control of the game with more possession.

However, East Bengal had their chances to score in between but failed to gran the opportunity. As the final whistle was blown the game finished 1-1, with the Red and Gold finding it difficult to get out of their poor form.


In the next fixture, East Bengal will be facing North East United FC, while Kerala Blasters will take on table leaders, Mumbai City FC.
