Xtra Time Web Desk : ATK Mohun Bagan on Saturday sealed yet another 3-1 win over arch rivals SC East Bengal in what was a thrilling, end to end Kolkata Derby in the Indian Super League. Kiyan Nasiri stood out as the man of the match with a hat trick.
The first half started in a pretty balanced way with both the teams playing their own style of football. On one end, when the Mariners were playing attacking, possessional football, courtesy of Liston Colaco and Hugo Boumous, the Torchbearers were playing with a solid defensive organization. And the moment for the Red and Gold to take a lead came in the first half itself, from Tiri’s mistake. But unfortunately, SC East Bengal’s new striker Marcelo missed the sitter as he put the ball past wide of the post. The first half ended goalless with both teams playing exciting football.
In the second half however things changed quite quickly as Darren Sidoel on the 56 minute mark scored the first goal of the match from a Perosevic corner to put his team, SC East Bengal ahead in the match. But things started to change after that as ATK Mohun Bagan came all guns blazing at their rivals with attacking substitutions in Kiyan Nasiri coming in for Deepak Tangri. And that was indeed the turning point. The younger scored the equaliser on the 64th minute just moments after Liston’s curler hit the post.
It was all ATK Mohun Bagan after that, as they organized attacks after attacks which finally capitalized when young Kiyan scored two more quick fire goals in the added time (90+2) to score his first ever hat trick and helped his team clinch a 3-1 victory in the Kolkata Derby.
