ISL 2021-22 : ATK Mohun Bagan’s clash with Bengaluru FC ends in a thrilling 3-3 draw

Xtra Time Web Desk : In what was a clash of titans, ATK Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC share one point each after a six-goal thriller. Following the 3-3 draw between the sides, the Mariners are now currently without a win in their last four games, while the Blues are without a win in their last six games.


All the goals of the match came either directly or indirectly from the corners. For ATK Mohun Bagan it was Subhashish Bose, Hugo Boumous and Roy Krishna on the scoresheet. While for Bengaluru, it was Cleiton Silva, Danish Farooq Bhat and Prince Ibara who marked their name by scoring the goals.


At the start of the first half both the team look to set their plan on attacking as there was quite of number attacks in the early minutes. While benefitting from that it was the Mariners who opened the scoring in the match as Subhashish Bose scored a powerful header in the 13th minute from a corner.


Bengaluru without holding their head down after goal answered back with counter-attacks which further led them to winning a penalty, as Liston Colaco made a poor challenge on Cleiton Silva. Silva scored from the spot calmly as he sent the goalkeeper on the wrong side in the 18th minute.


To add more drama in the first half, Danish Farooq Bhat scored his first ever goal in the ISL as he guided a in-swinging ball from Silva’s corner into the ATK net in the 26th minute. However, the Mariners got their chance to equalize the score in the 38th minute as they broke into counter-attack. Grabbing the chance with both hands Roy Krishna assisted Hugo Boumous who made a clam and beautiful finish. With that the first ended with both the sides scoring two goals each.


Returning for the second half, both the teams look lost on composer. However, ATK were awarded a penalty as Prince Ibara brought down Subhashish Bose in the box. While Roy Krishna who has not missed a penalty in the ISL took the shot from the spot making it 3-2 for his side in the 58th minute.


But the lead was only until 72 minutes as Prince Ibara made up for his mistake after scoring a powerful header to equalize the score. After the 3-3 scoreline both the sides had couple of chances but failed to grab on that, as result the game finished with both sharing one point each.


In the next fixture ATK Mohun Bagan will take on the bottom side North East United, while Bengaluru FC have a tough job against Jamshedpur FC in their next game.
