XtraTime Web Desk: After securing their place in the upcoming Indian Super League 2020-21, Kolkata giants East Bengal is set to shock the Indian transfer market as they have reportedly trying to sign Ibrahim Afellay as their marquee footballer.
Afellay is a know face in European circuit. He was a part of FC Barcelona from 2010 to 2015 and played as an attacking midfielder & winger. Beside La Liga he also played in the Premier League as well where he played for Stokes City from (2015 to 2019) and Dutch bigwigs PSV Eindhoven (2004-’10 and 2019-’20).
Afellay was also a part of Netherlands national side and he also played two Euro championships in 2008 and 2012 and was part of the team that reached the finals of the 2010 World Cup.
In the Indian Super League, most of the foreigners are from 33 to 36 age group, but Afellay is much younger and has vast knowledge at the highest level, so if he signs for the Red & Gold Brigade that will be a huge boost for East Bengal.
