ISL 2018/19: ATK continues their poor show, NorthEast steal late winner at Kolkata

Kolkata: ATK continues to maintain their poor show in Hero ISL in front of almost an empty stadium, as a late goal from Rowllin Borges helped NorthEast United to get their first victory of the season. The Highlanders beat ATK at their home by 1-0.

The visitors dominated after ATK were reduced to ten men. Sena Ralte was shown a second yellow card for his rash challenge on North East United’s Nikhil Kadam in the 32nd minute of the game.

Gaffer Steve Coppell tried to play some attacking football in the last 15 minutes by bringing in Kalu Uche and young Hitesh Sharma, but they failed to glitter when it mattered. Centre back John Johnson announced to be the Hero of The Match, as he saved his team from further embarrassment with some amazing defending.

ATK has lost both its matches in the ongoing edition of the Indian Super League. Kerala Blasters had earlier defeated ATK 2-0 in season’s opener.
