Bengaluru FC have announced the signing of Venezuelan striker Miku on a one-year deal. The 32-year-old signed for the Blues with the news being broken on the club’s social media handles.

Miku or Nicolas Ladislao Fedor Flores is a prolific striker who last plied his trade for La Liga side, Rayo Vallecano. A product of the Valencia academy, Miku could not make it into the Mestalla outfit’s first team squad and then became a sort of a journeyman. His best spell came at Getafe in a three-year stint between 2010 and 2012 where the striker scored 26 goals in 96 appearances.

He expressed his delight after signing on the dotted lines, saying to his club’s official website: “I have heard a lot about the club and the city. We have some great players in the club who always fight for titles, so I hope it will be a good season for every one of us in Bengaluru. I spoke to Albert Roca about the club, the league and the team. He’s a very good and experienced coach and explained to me what he wants from me for this season. I can’t wait to join my teammates and begin training.

Miku was at Celtic on a season long loan in 2012 from Getafe where he won a league and a domestic cup double. He also had a short stint in Qatar before returning to the La Liga with Rayo Vallecano. He made 43 appearances for Rayo and netted 13 goals. His antics in front of the club reportedly attracted Albert Roca to lure him to play for Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League.

Miku became Bengaluru’s seventh foreign signing for the upcoming season with the club already securing the future of Braulio Nobrega, Juanan Gonzalez, John Johnson, Dimas Delgado, Erik Paartalu and Antonio Dovale. The Blues now have a strong Spanish contingent at their helm now with the likes of Juanan, Delgado, Dovale and Braulio being Spanish and now Miku who is also fluent in Spanish, managed by another Spaniard in Albert Roca.

With Miku’s acquisition, Bengaluru FC now have three prolific strikers to choose from for ISL 4. He and Braulio will compete with Indian national team captain Sunil Chhetri for a starting berth.
