Rohit Sharma's surprising decision to turn up for the last league match of Mumbai Indians on Tuesday has raised many eyebrows and bamboozled the fanatics. Despite being ruled out of the Australian tour citing injury concerns, his comment before the match saying “Looks like I am fit and fine,” has come to the surprise of many cricketing pundits. And one of the critical of the bunch is the former Indian skipper and Ex-BCCI Chief selector, Dilip Vengsarkar.

Vengsarkar, who was already quite skeptical of the selection matters for the Australian tour has gone to ask few very relevant questions about the Rohit-BCCI fiasco.

“It’s intriguing that Rohit Sharma, the most accomplished batsman of Team India, who was only a few days ago declared unfit to tour Australia by the Indian team’s physio (Nitin Patel) and hence not selected for the trip, is playing and leading MI in the IPL,” Vengsarkar told TOI.

The development has also raised a pertaining question of what holds bigger priority, wheather its the club or the country. And this same argument is being echoed by the former cricketer, who said "Now, the question here is, is the IPL more important to him than playing for India? Is the club more important than playing for the nation for him? Will the BCCI take a call on this? Or is it that the BCCI physio faltered in diagnosing Rohit's injury correctly,"

Rohit Sharma was omitted from the Indian team after picking up a Grade II hamstring tear during the super over IPL match with Kings XI Punjab. A fitness test was scheduled for Rohit last Sunday, the result of which hasn’t been made public. BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly said in an interview that Rohit’s progress will be monitored over the next few days based on which he may or may not be named for the Australia squad.

Now with Rohit making a surprising comeback and even declaring himself fit, it would be interesting to see BCCI's handling of the situation.
