Xtra Time Web Desk : Union Home Minister Amit Shah alongside other top West Bengal BJP leaders in Suvendu Adhikary and Swapan Dasgupta on Friday went to BCCI president Sourav Ganguly’s Behala residence for a cordial dinner, amongst speculations and questions on whether ‘Dada’ would finally be stepping into the field of politics.

Although, this is not the first time that the former Team India skipper has been linked with speculations and rumours regarding his entry into politics as he was previously met by the top BJP leaders before the 2021 West Bengal state assembly elections in order to convince him to join the party as a CM candidate and campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party, to which Ganguly refused, citing heart problems.

Amit Shah’s itinerary also includes attending a cultural event named Mukti-Chakra, where Sourav Ganguly’s wife Dona Ganguly will be performing. Amit Shah will then head to Ganguly’s residence in Behala for dinner.

The former India captain has always stayed away from politics. The left hander has maintained a cordial relationship with both WB CM Mamata Banerjee and BJP top brass. Ganguly recently visited Nabanna to meet Mamata as well.

Although, WB CM Mamata Banerjee didn’t look too bothered with the meeting between Shah and Ganguly. Also, she advised the former Team India skipper to offer the Union Home Minister famous Bengali delicacy Mishti Doi.

“If Home Minister goes to Saurav’s house, what is the harm in it? I will tell Sourav to feed him mishti doi,” said Mamata Banerjee on Thursday.
