Xtra Time Web Desk: Is Sourav Ganguly joining Bharatiya Janata Party? Is the BCCI President finally joining politics? There have been day long speculations once the news broke that the Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting Sourav’s residence in Behala for dinner on Friday night.
This is not the first time that there are speculations of Sourav joining politics. It was rife before the West Bengal elections but the BCCI supremo denied the rumours. Although last time Ganguly had a discussion with Shah, this is the first time, Amit Shah will be visiting his residence.
It is learnt Shah will be accompanied by top brass of BJP in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of opposition in the state, and MP Swapan Dasgupta.
Amit Shah’s itinerary also includes attending a cultural event named Mukti-Chakra, where Sourav Ganguly’s wife Dona Ganguly will be performing. Amit Shah will then head to Ganguly’s residence in Behala for dinner.
The former India captain has always stayed away from politics. The left hander has maintained a cordial relationship with both WB CM Mamata Banerjee and BJP top brass. Ganguly recently visited Nabanna to meet Mamata as well.
