XtraTime Web Desk: The problems seems to be never ending for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the latest one is the coronavirus crisis revolving the Chennai Super Kings team. So much so that the BCCI has reportedly put the tournament schedule for the upcoming 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) on hold. It was supposed to be announced on Saturday after the meeting between BCCI and ECB officials on Thursday. The IPL Governing Council Chairman Brijesh Patel and acting CEO Hemang Amin had a fruitful meeting with ECB chief Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak who is also the minister of culture and youth development of UAE Government. Most of issues were resolved in the meeting.


The latest crisis that the BCCI is facing is several members of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were tested positive for the dreaded novel coronavirus. In a shocking development, as many as ten members including a current India player was confirmed infected with COVID-19. Deepak Chahar, is believed to be the lone player in the list of infected persons. This development, as reported by TOI, has forced the BCCI to postpone the announcement of the schedule even though.


The cash rich league was scheduled to start from next month on September 19. According to a BCCI source to TOI, “Adequate measures are in place to tackle the situation and there is no immediate threat to the tournament. But the announcement of fixtures has been delayed because of this development.”


The 53 days tournament will be played across three venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The final is scheduled for November 10.
