IPL 2023: Yashasvi’s hundred goes in vain after Tim David’s late blitz give MI thrilling 6 wicket win

Xtra Time Web Desk: Tim David hit three back-to-back sixes off Jason Holder’s final over as Mumbai Indians registered a thrilling 6 wicket win in the 1000th IPL game against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede stadium on Sunday. Despite Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century (124 off 62), Mumbai Indians chased the massive total of 212/7 with three balls to spare. David remained unbeaten on 45 off 14 balls along with Tialk Verma (29 off 21).

Mumbai Indians lost their captain Rohit Sharma early on, thanks to Sandeep Sharma. Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green attempted to stabilize the innings, but it was Suryakumar Yadav who turned the tables. Sky smashed 55 runs off 29 balls, which included 8 fours and 2 sixes. Tilak Verma and Tim David also batted well in the end, with Tim securing the win for Mumbai Indians with his three consecutive sixes off the first three balls of Jason Holder’s last over. Ravichandran Ashwin was the most successful bowler for Rajasthan Royals with two wickets while Trent Boult and Sandeep Sharma shared one wicket each.

Earlier Rajasthan Royals’ had a decent start as Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal piled 72 runs for the first wicket with the youngster playing the aggressor. It was a super effort from Yashasvi as he smashed his way to a brilliant 62 ball 124 runs, which included 16 fours and 8 sixes. Jaiswal’s century powered the Rajasthan Royals to their massive total of 212/7 in 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians’ Arshad Khan took 3 wickets, with Piyush Chawla taking 2 wickets in his account. Riley Meredith and Jofra Archer got one wicket each. Although Jaiswal’s century was remarkable, it ultimately went in vain as Mumbai Indians secured a record-breaking win.
