Debasis Sen, Kolkata: It was nearing midnight and the stands at the Eden Gardens was almost empty after the IPL 2023 game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. Yashasvi just finished his post-match chat with the host broadcasters and was walking towards the dressing room. Suddenly he noticed he has forgot something. He started running towards the middle of the wicket, where he just played a scintillating knock of 98* off 47 balls. But then why was he running back towards the wicket. Moments later the left hander was seen clicking pictures with the ground staffs at the Eden Gardens. There are about 60 ground staffs working during the IPL matches. Yashasvi clicked pictures with all the three groups. These are small moments that is so much heart warming to see. The Rajasthan Royals opener then walked towards the L Block where there were a handful of fans waiting and cheering Yashasvi. The youngster did not disappoint them either as he clicked selfies with them. Staying humble and grounded is very important for any sportsman and Yashasvi proved it with his gesture.

We all know about Yashasvi’s struggles in his early days, from staying in a tent at Azad Maidan to selling pani-puris to make a living. The cricketing journey of Yashasvi Jaiswal is no less an inspiration for many budding cricketers in the country. Coming from a humble background in Bhadohi district in Uttar Pradesh, Yashasvi has made his dream turn into reality.

The left hander on Thursday night smashed the fastest fifty in the history of IPL, reaching the milestone in just 13 balls. Yashasvi’s scintillating 98* off just 47 balls helped Rajasthan Royals thrash KKR by 9 wickets. The Mumbaikar has now amassed 575 runs this season so far, which is just one run behind RCB’s Faf du Plessis. He has already overtaken Ishan Kishan’s 516 runs record of most runs in an IPL season by an uncapped Indian player.

Yashasvi has already scored a hundred in this edition of IPL. His 124-run knock in 62 deliveries against Mumbai Indians was not enough to clinch a win for the Royals. The RR opener has showcased an extraordinary performance in the IPL 2023 so far and is contention to play for the Indian cricket team in the five-match T20I series in West Indies and the USA in late June-early July.
