IPL 2023: Virat Kohli fined for the second time in ongoing season for this offence

Xtra Time Web Desk: It seems Royal Challengers Bangalore stand in captain Virat Kohli is struggling to maintain the over-rate as he has been fined for the second consecutive game in the ongoing IPL 2023 season. Virat has been fined a hefty Rs 24 lakhs for exceeding the over-limit in the game against Rajasthan Royals at the M Chainnaswamy stadium on Sunday. The Royal Challengers Bangalore players were also fined a proportion of their match fees.

This was the second time in the ongoing edition that Virat was fined. Kohli was sanctioned for his on-field behaviour during the IPL 2023 game against Chennai Super Kings. The RCB superstar was fined 10% of his match fee for breaching IPL Code of Conduct.Kohli was sanctioned for his aggressive send-off to Shivam Dube during the match.

According to a statement from IPL, “Royal Challengers Bangalore, who had named Mr. Virat Kohli as their Captain for their game against Rajasthan Royals, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Rajasthan Royals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 23, 2023. As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Kohli has been fined Rs. 24 lakh and each member of the Playing XI, including the impact substitute, is fined Rs. 6 lakh or 25 percent of the match fee, whichever is lesser.”
