IPL 2023: Virat Kohli & Faf du Plessis powers RCB to 8 wicket win over MI at Chinnaswamy

Xtra Time Web Desk: A superb opening stand of 148 runs from Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis helped Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) thrash Mumbai Indians (MI) by 8 wickets in the IPL 2023 game at Chinnaswamy stadium on Sunday.

Kohli smashed an unbeaten 82(49) while Du Plessis struck 73943) as RCB chased down a 172-run target with 22 balls to spare. Kohli’s innings was studded with six boundaries and five sixes. Faf hit 5 fours and 6 sixes on his way to 73 before getting out to Arshad Khan.

Earlier Mumbai Indians’ innings was rescued by Tilak Verma’s impressive knock of 84 runs off 46 balls, as the team lost wickets regularly. RCB’s Mohammed Siraj and Reece Topley played a key role in keeping MI’s run rate under control during the powerplay. However, Topley suffered a dislocated shoulder and was ruled out of the game.

Overall, it was a perfect homecoming for Faf du Plessis and his team, kickstarting the IPL 2023 campaign with a convincing win at the M Chinnaswamy stadium.
