IPL 2023: Shubman Gill smashes maiden ton in IPL against Sunrisers Hyderabad

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India batter Shubman Gill is going through the form of his life. The Gujarat Titans opener on Monday smashed his maiden IPL ton during the IPL 2023 game against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Ahmedabad. Gill took 56 balls to reach his ton, which included 13 hits to the fence and one six.

He was finally caught by Abdul Samad off the bowling of Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the final over pf GT innings. Gill is now the second highest run scorer in IPL 2023 behind Faf du Plessis of RCB who has scored 631 runs so far. Shubman has scored 576 runs from 13 matches which included 4 half centuries and 1 hundred. His previous best this season was against KKR when he scored 94*.

Gill was in stupendous form right from the start of his innings as he smashed four consecutive boundaries off Fazalhaq Farooqi. He continued his onslaught and pulled SRH skipper Aiden Markram for two consecutive fours in the seventh over and then struck Markande for two more boundaries in the next over.

 With wickets falling at the other end, Gill eventually went about his business and brought up his century with a single to long-off in the 19th over.

Shubman in this knd of form augurs well for the Indian team as they will take on Australia in the World Test Championships final to be played at the Oval from June 7-11.
