Coming in to bat in the 11th over with his team at 99/4, Pooran wasted no time in making an impact. He smashed a huge six off RCB spinner Karn Sharma off just the second ball he faced, and from there on, it was a spectacle of sixes. Pooran hit five more sixes to bring up his fifty in just 15 balls, which was the joint second-fastest in IPL history.
Pooran’s innings was nothing short of breathtaking, as he ended up scoring 62 runs off just 19 balls, including 4 fours and 7 sixes, at an astonishing strike rate of 326.32, which is the fourth-highest in an IPL innings with 50+ runs. His innings turned the match in favor of Lucknow Super Giants and earned him praise for his explosive batting.
Earlier in the match, RCB Captain Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, and Glenn Maxwell had powered their team to an imposing total of 212/2.
