Xtra Time Web Desk: Suryakumar Yadav is going through a torrid time. It has been a nightmarish last couple of months for SKY. The Mumbai right-hander was in the peak of his form as he established himself as the world’s No 1 batter in T20 cricket. But life has taken such a cruel turn for Suryakumar that he has been left wondering where his next run will come from. His string of scores since the white ball series against Australia are 8,0,0, 0,15. 1, 0.

On Tuesday night’s IPL 2023 game against Delhi Capitals, he got out of the first ball playing his trademark pick up shot off pacer Mukesh Kumar but it went straight to Kuldeep Yadav at fine leg.

After the match, SKY was seen chatting with Delhi Capitals Head Coach Ricky Ponting. It was a good lengthy discussion that went on for 10 minutes or so.

The former Australian great feels Surya can “win” the ODI World Cup for India and the selectors should stick to him despite his woeful run in the format.

“Everyone around the world knows what Surya can do in white-ball cricket,” Ponting said on ICC Review.

Surya had an unforgettable match against DC last night. He also suffered a painful blow above his left eyebrow when he misjudged a catch from Axar Patel at deep midwicket in the 17th over and had to be assisted off the field for treatment.

The Mumbaikar’s bad time started with the first test against Australia in Nagpur when he was drafted in test playing XI based on T20 form. He had a horrible white ball series against the Aussies, falling for three successive golden ducks in the three-match series.

The horror showing against Australia seems to be playing on Surya’s mind as he continues to struggle in ongoing IPL 2023 so far.
