IPL 2023: Lucknow Super Giants pacer Mark Wood go back home for birth of his daughter

Xtra Time Web Desk: Lucknow Super Giants will be further weakened as pacer Mark Wood is set to fly back to England for the birth of his daughter. The franchise shared a video message from Wood on its social media handles, confirming the development. The English pacer got a bit emotional while saying goodbye to the teammates and support staffs. He hoped to return for the final stage of the tournament.

The franchise is already without their captain KL Rahul and left arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat, both of whom are ruled out due to injuries. And now with Wood also being unavailable, Krunal Pandya and his boys will have some tough challenges ahead.

“For the birth of my daughter. So, sadly, but for a good reason to go home. Hopefully, I might be able to come back and hopefully, you will be able to see me again. I am sorry that unfortunately I have not played more and in the four games that I have managed to play, I have managed to get a few wickets and hopefully, I can charge in again,” the England speedster said.

Wood has taken 11 wickets from five matches in this season with his best performance against Delhi Capitals in the very first match. The England pacer took a fifer against Delhi.
