IPL 2023: KL Rahul ruled out of the remainder of league, doubtful for WTC Final

Xtra Time Web Desk: Lucknow Super Giants were dealt with a huge blow as their captain KL Rahul will miss the remainder of IPL 2023 due to an injury. According to reports, BCCI medical team will be assessing Rahul’s injury and will only take a call whether he can travel to London for the upcoming World Test Championship Final in June.

It is still not certain whether Rahul can make it to the WTC Final as the results of the scans is awaited. The middle order batter will report to the National Cricket Academy for rehabilitation. According to reports, the extent of injury is believed to be serious which can make him doubtful for the WTC Final against Australia to be played at the Oval starting June 7.

The nature of Rahul’s injury has only been a matter of speculation since neither the LSG management nor the BCCI has come out with a formal statement. It is being speculated that Rahul might have a suffered a hamstring tear which can rule him out for a lengthy period. The Team India cricketer had a hernia surgery 10 months ago in Germany.

The LSG management has not decided whether to name a replacement for Rahul. Krunal Pandya will continue to lead the franchise in the absence of Rahul.
