IPL 2023 Final: Weather forecast looks promising for a full 20 overs a side match

Xtra Time Web Desk: Rain did play a spoilsport for the IPL 2023 final between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings on Sunday but it was somewhat surprising to see that one of the best run cricket associations in the country do not have arrangements for a full ground cover.

It would have been difficult for the match to start even if the rain had stopped at 8 pm because the outfield could have been sloppy. A full ground cover could have avoided such a situation if it had rained heavily as the ground could have been made ready for play in a short time. As was the case at Eden Gardens during the T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan in 2016. Despite the torrential rains in the evening, the match could start smoothly on time, thanks to the idea of then CAB President Sourav Ganguly.

As far as the weather in Ahmedabad is concerned for the Reserve Day i.e, Monday, forecast site AccuWeather shows it is likely to be sunny throughout the early hours and mostly clear the rest of the day. Right before the game (around 5 to 6 pm), it’s likely to be cloudier, although the situation is anticipated to get better later in the day. The skies should dissipate by 7 pm, and no rain is expected the rest of the day (when the match is played).

If rain does play a spoilsport like it was on Sunday, then defending champions Gujarat Titans will be crowned champions courtesy their better standings during the league stages.
