Xtra Time Web Desk: In an exhilarating Indian Premier League match on Monday, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by eight runs. RCB had a formidable target of 227 runs to chase, and initially looked promising with Glenn Maxwell (76 off 36 balls) and skipper Faf du Plessis (62 off 33) adding 126 runs for the third wicket. However, their departure in quick succession dashed RCB’s hopes of victory.

CSK had set a mammoth total courtesy of an explosive batting performance. Opener Devon Conway blazed his way to 83 off 45 deliveries and had a crucial 74-run partnership with Ajinkya Rahane (37 off 20 balls) for the second wicket. Conway then added 80 runs for the third wicket with Shivam Dube, who smashed a quickfire 52 off just 27 balls with five sixes and two fours.

RCB had a shaky start, losing Virat Kohli early in the game to CSK’s impact sub Akash Singh, who clean-bowled the RCB skipper. Despite some valiant efforts from du Plessis and Maxwell, RCB fell short of the target.

The match was also notable for some rare glitches in the Dhoni Review System and missed catches by CSK fielders. It was a night of monster shots, with Dube hitting a six that traveled a whopping 111 meters and the match breaking all viewership records on Jio Cinema with 2.4 crore people watching the livestream. Although CSK emerged victorious in the end, it was an electrifying contest that kept cricket fans on the edge of their seats.
